Topology Optimised Structure. Installation in Carbon Fibre.

 

The design and fabrication processes for this piece explores the intersection between cutting edge design techniques and fabrication materials with traditional craft construction techniques.

Kalla was modelled and analysed using software such as Autodesk Maya and Altaire hypermesh, both of which are leaders in the areas of poly-modelling and topology optimisation. After its design, optimisation and structural analysis Kalla was rationalised in order to be cut and manually assembled in pieces before being finally rendered with carbon fibre.

Kalla was a collaboration with Westminster University and exhibited at the World Architects Congress in Seoul, Korea. September 2017
